Alfriston & Berwick Walking Tour

Approx 2-3 hours (plus transportation time)
10am or 2pm start times - Monday to Sunday
£35.00 per person

Steeped in History, this circular guided walking tour covers the villages of Alfriston and Berwick, in East Sussex, near Brighton.

This guided circular walk begins in the picture-postcard historic village of Alfriston, with its historic inns, village green and thatched houses, north of the Cuckmere Valley. Many of Alfriston's buildings are steeped in history, including the 14th Century Clergy House - now run by the National Trust - and the Star Inn. The walk will include a visit to Berwick Church, a Grade I listed building of great importance because of its unique murals painted during the Second World War by the 'Bloomsbury Group' artists, Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell. The models for figures featured in the murals include many of the artists' family and friends that lived in Brighton . There will also be plenty for nature lovers to enjoy, as we keep a keen eye out for birds, rabbits and wild flowers.

The tour ends in a picturesque, local Sussex café where you will have the opportunity to relax with a coffee or tea before returning home, and will give you the opportunity of asking the tour guide any further questions.
